Can I Trademark My Own Name?
You can absolutely trademark your own name so long as you are using it to brand, market, and sell your goods or services. Basically, so long as you’ve built yourself into a brand, you can trademark your name. There are special issues, however, with trademarking your name, as the normal rules regarding generic names and unique names do not apply nearly as much, since there are really only so many names to go around. As a result, you’ll likely need to show the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) much more support that you are using your name (and image if you want to trademark a logo consisting, in part, of your image) to brand your services.
